Christmas stockings are the best because not only are they personalized, but also goodies abound from them on that special day. There are so many designs, colors and styles to choose from, but each and every one can be personalized or changed to fit the unique style of the stocking owner. From a Santa Claus stocking to an Elf boot stocking there is a customized style for everyone. From adding a few decorations or a saying on a stocking, to completely making one from scratch, Christmas just wouldn't be festive without them. So say goodbye to the store bought generic stockings and try your hand at making your own! Here are a few ideas and techniques to try out!
If the stocking is for a girl the styles of a ballerina slipper or a princess might fit the bill. For boys, there are also many to choose from such as a cowboy theme or a racing theme. Some people choose not to carry a theme based on feminine or masculine, but they are there if that is what is desired. Stockings can be purchased plain and items such as cut-outs, felts and others can be added to make them fit a specific theme or décor. Pieces of felt can be purchased from discount stores, craft stores and online. Finding templates is easy and they can then be traced onto the felt and cut out appropriately. Placing the felt cutouts on the stocking is simple with some craft glue.
If counting the days until present opening day is important to the family members, how about a stocking with a removable day calendar. Placing the countdown calendar on the front of the stocking can be done with some craft glue. These calendars can either be drawn or printed off the computer with a laser printer. Cut out small pieces of paper with the numbered date and place them on the calendar in their respective spot. As the days come and go, the family members can remove the small pieces of paper, therefore counting the days left until Christmas.
Christmas Angels decorate a stocking nicely as well. This is a very classic decoration; however the individual can easily place their unique touches through photos, colors and other decorative touches. Even a picture of the family member that belongs to the stocking is a nice way to tell the world about the person and stocking as well!
